Denver Home Prices Up 4.1% From 2009, Case-Shiller Index Shows: For the fifth month in a row, home prices in the Denver area showed a year-over-year increase in March, and prices also rose slightly between February and March, according to the latest S&P/Case-Shiller Home Prices Index. Denver-area Short Sales of Homes Down 18% in Q1: Short sales of single-family homes dropped 18 percent from 2009’s fourth quarter to this year’s first quarter, according to a report released on May 24th by Re/Max Professionals of Denver. Read more here

Forbes: Denver is America's 18th Most Innovative City: Denver ranks 18th among 100 large U.S. cities on a new Forbes.com list of "America's most innovative cities." Forbes compiled its ranking on the basis of patents, venture capital investment, tech and science jobs, and "creative" jobs, all adjusted per capita. Read more here

Denver Has Nation’s 6th Best Quality of Life, Portfolio.com Reports: A report on the quality of life in 67 U.S. metro areas rates Denver sixth best in the nation. The report by G. Scott Thomas for Portfolio.com, a national business-news website affiliated with the Denver Business Journal, uses 20 different factors — most of them economic — to gauge quality of life in major cities. Kaiser to Open New Local Facility in Douglas County: One of the nation’s leading health care providers will bring 100 new jobs to Douglas County with the opening of a large-scale, multi-specialty medical office complex. Kaiser Permanente announced plans May 19 to open what will eventually be a 200,000-square-foot medical building just west of the Regional Transportation District’s Lincoln Light Rail station.
